for hayley amanda, writing is a passion.
born in san antonio, texas and raised both in chicago and the lone star state, hayley spent her childhood lost in books. though she occasionally frequently got into trouble at school for reading novels and dreaming up stories during class, her wonderful elementary school teachers graciously and patiently nurtured her blossoming passion for creative writing. hayley continued to write as a mode of artistic expression throughout high school, and was recognized for her accomplishments in writing by her college.
in 2009, hayley began to chronicle her journey out of the world of ultra-orthodox judaism at her widely-acclaimed blog “formerlyfrum.” writing under the pen name “lily,” she captured the hearts of thousands of readers worldwide with her honesty, humor and unique voice.
following nearly two years of writing as lily, hayley began to take on freelance projects and composed a series of personal vignettes set for release throughout 2013 here at hayleyamanda.com. she is currently working on her first full-length piece, a novel titled unbroken.
after spending time living in new york, hayley is thrilled to be back home in san antonio, where she is full-time student pursuing a university degree in nursing. she enjoys singing, spending time with her husband and three children, and (as always) getting lost in daydreams and good books.
